Our characters basically all act the same way, so why not give them something neat that sets them apart? I know this may be difficult to implement and script and everything, but this is still a suggestion on my part. (I was forced to bring it here..)
The interface:
Have a coordinate plane cut into 9 squares. Top row is Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good. Middle row is Lawful Neutral, True Neutral, and Chaotic Neutral. Last row is Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, Chaotic Evil. Next to the coordinate pane would be two bars- One representing Morality (good/evil) and Ethics (lawful/chaotic).
It would look like this, but as an actual coordinate plane:

Workings:
Filling up Morality or decreasing it via certain actions would move you up and down the Y axis while filling/decreasing Ethics would move you left/right along the X axis. Whatever quadrant you land in is your current state: Say you have 500 Ethics and 500 Morality- You are Lawful Good. Of course, these are numbers I just made up, I believe that the numbers should be 0-200 personally.
Say during a cutscene you have this:
Your character finds a stranded villager being attacked. You can either:
>Escort him back to town (+5 Morality)
>Fight off the monsters (+5 Ethics)
>Walk by (No change)
>Watch (-5 Morality)
Something like that. Of course, still an example. Characters can be implemented into cutscenes, so I say we can take this to the greatest advantage possible. Maybe you can gain/lose points for choosing to rescue Chapley in Cavern of the Veil or not.
The 'Alignment' interface can be on your character information with an extra tab, or be a different screen altogether.
