I know this might be strange to ask for since the game is farelly late in development but... what if you could have one more type of rider that you had to un-lock? And if you do know of Mabinogi then you will know what I'm talking about.
My idea is a shape shifter or the Shifter class (Kinda like the adventurer skill from Mabinogi)
Okay the Shifter is a well balanced class in speed and agility and doesn't like to fight up close and personal. They usually know some offensive spells akin to a wizard but not quite and they behave sort of like assassin's with the fact they will strike from behind.
Their main strength however relies on their ability to change into different monsters. When in their transformed state they will have stamina that you can improve over time and can regenerate if you sit down. Well back on the main topic, depending on what monster you become will depend on your strategy. If you were a wolf then you would most likely get a friend or two to help you in a fight. While if you were a Bloodwyrm you might be more of the ranger and a strike and flee type of strategy. Now to be able to call on buddies in certain forms you have to 'howl' when near them. And there is a chance they might attack so it's not too wise to just approach them nonchalantly. You can at first have only two in your little 'pack' and you will be able to increase that number later on.
When you are a certain monster other monsters of the same species will probably not attack you. I saw might not because if you are an alpha wolf the spawning alpha wolf will attack you thinking you are a rival.
When you transform a mist will form around you. Depending on the rank of the monster will depending on the color of the mist. Silver for common, blue for elite and gold for heroic or legendary.
To be able to transform into a monster you have to collect a certain amount of souls from it that appear acationally. To obtain them it will almost be like trying to tame a mount to where you have to fight with the soul to capture it.
Final thing would have to be what the use and what they wear. Well as for what their weapon would be, I would say a staff but has a cage like feel to it, like chains or well.... (bad imagination skillz) and as for clothing it will most likely be light and non constricting, like the assassin's wears a little or even like the priest or wizard... dunno... (Terribly executed thoughts)
